"'Love makes no promises.' -> Bwisit! If you can't make any promises then that means you can't commit. It only means you're a coward."

"'I can't promise you a garden of roses.' -> There is nothing wrong in giving her a garden of roses if she deserves it. But you cannot promise that the roses will not have thorns."

By the way, my prof is a middle-aged, balding man who is happily married to his equally middle-aged wife. I really enjoy this class. Too bad I was feeling too sick and had to be absent last meeting.
